IC Information

Character name: Minako Arisato
Character canon: Persona 3 Portable
Canon point: December 4, 2009
Physical Description: Image link. The wiki says she's either 16 or 17, depending on when her DoB is (she's 17 by the end of the game but we have no idea when her birthday is). Her height is 160cm, 5'3"

About the Character: As a starting note, Minako's story is identical to Minato's - the only difference is Minako herself. Everyone else stays the same.

Minako was a pretty ordinary person, for the first couple of years of her life. However when she was six, an accident occurred at Gekkoukan High School. Said accident was a giant explosion which wiped out a good part of the school, killing a lot of students, along with causing a lot of damage to the surrounding area. Part of the damage caused included severely damaging the car Minako's parents were driving, with her in the back seat. She survived, scrambling out of the car, but her parents were trapped and burned to death.

Immediately after this, the Dark Hour suddenly sprang into being. Minako's potential for being a Persona user resulted in her not being transmogrified into a coffin like normal people are, and she bore witness to a robot named Aigis fighting an incomplete version of Death, the thirteenth Arcana Shadow. Aigis, defeating it but unable to destroy it, did the only thing she could - she sealed Death within the young human nearby, resulting in it residing within Minako from that point onwards.

Shuffled from relative to relative, it was ten years later that she returned, transferring to Gekkoukan and going to live in a nearby dorm. She encountered the Dark Hour again when she was travelling to the dorms from the train station, but didn't really seemed phased by it. At the dorm, she met Yukari Takeba and Mitsuru Kirijo, and eventually Akihiko Sanada. It wasn't long after that when, during a Dark Hour and the full moon, a Shadow attacked the dorms. Put into a tricky situation, Minako awakened to her power of Persona, and summoned Orpheus - only for it to be torn apart as Death broke free of her to destroy the Shadow threatening her. It knocked her out for a week.

She joined SEES soon after, a group devoted to fighting Shadows. Others also joined, with stories of their own - Junpei Iori, Fuuka Yamagishi, and Ken Amada, along with a dog named Koromaru. Aigis was also reactivated and joined the group, and eventually another returned to it, Shinjiro Aragaki. Minako was also visited several times by a strange boy named Pharos. It wasn't until much later that she found out that Pharos was the Death Shadow that had been sealed within her, his memories and parts of himself lost, taking form as the Arcana Shadows.

Eventually it turned out that Shuji Ikutsuki had been using SEES to destroy the twelve Arcana Shadows to force an event called the Fall to happen. After dealing with him, some time passed, and a strange new boy transferred into Minako's class - Ryoji Mochizuki. Aigis didn't like him for some reason, and eventually it was revealed why. Ryoji was the human form of Death, a form he'd been granted thanks to the time he'd spent sealed inside Minako. Aigis attacked him, but was heavily damaged and unable to defeat him. Ryoji then revealed the truth about who and what he was. The Appriser, destined to be a harbinger of Death, his true form that of Thanatos, one of the Death Persona. Him being present in the world meant the Fall was going to occur, that Nyx would arrive and wipe out mankind. There was no way to stop it, it would happen regardless. Everyone was going to die. He gave everyone a choice though - if Minako were to kill him, all their memories of the Dark Hour and what had happened would disappear, and they could live peacefully, without suffering when the Fall arrived. Otherwise they would have to live in despair, knowing what was to come. It's the day after he gives them this choice to think about that Minako arrives.

But enough of that doom and gloom.

Minako Arisato is a very bubbly and upbeat kind of girl. She's not exactly a loud person (though she can be if she wants to, more than happy to yell a loud "YAKUSHIMA!" when trying to convince Mitsuru to go on vacation), but she's always as friendly as she can be, happy to listen to anyone who wishes to speak with her. Even when someone else is feeling down, she'll often do her best to cheer them up. She's very supportive of her friends, not caring what silly things that they think is bad about themselves. They're all good people in their own ways, and she does her best to make sure that they can see that! She's also very inquisitive about people; after making so many Social Links, it's left her curious about others, and she tends to ask a lot of questions about people's backgrounds.

She's also more than willing to help anyone, no matter who they may be. Her social links include a drunk old monk in a bar, a man dying of a genetic disease, and a shady businessman who scams her out of money before actually talking to her. Everyone is special in their own way. In some ways, her ability to talk to anyone is born from a reason, maybe even a selfishness. Her social links are what powers her Personas, giving them greater strength when she fuses them. But her willingness to talk lets her understand that sometimes, all one really needs is another to talk to. And she can understand the want to have someone like that, having been rather lonely most of her life due to the constant moving, being shuffled from relative to relative every couple of months or so. Her time at Gekkoukan is really the first time she's been able to make friends.

Her ability to make people happy or reassured is both one of her greatest strengths, and her biggest weakness. Minako is the leader of the team when they go in to fight Shadows. Everyone is looking to her for orders, everyone is looking to her for reassurance. She takes this very responsibly, to the detriment of herself. If she's looking down or scared or sad, then her teammates will worry, both about her and their ability to help in a situation. So she can't be any of those things. People are looking to her, looking up to her. She can't let them down. She refuses to let them down. So she doesn't, always looking determined or cheerful. It worries her friends, because surely she can't be like that all the time?

And she can't. When everything goes wrong, and Shinjiro gets hurt, shot protecting Ken, her walls come crashing down. She doesn't make a sound, the tears just rolling down her face. She holds it in. She holds herself as together as she can. It's only when she's well and truly alone that she ever lets herself cry, and even then it was only once. Only that night. Everything has to go back to normal after that. No one can see. It results in nightmares that can torment her in her sleep and repressed issues she'd never really worked through, ever. She doesn't think back to the night her parents died, seeing them die before her eyes. She doesn't think about Shinjiro nearly dying and being in a coma in hospital. She doesn't think about seeing Junpei getting killed and having to be revived by Chidori. She doesn't think about how she's going to lose a friend, because Ryoji can't help what he is. She doesn't think about the fact she is literally being given the choice to decide how she dies. She doesn't think about it. Because it's nothing. It's in the past. She's fine now. Really.

Character abilities: As a Persona MC, she has a hammerspace for holding restorative items, assorted useful stuff, gifts for her friends (including food that never goes off), and what could be argued to be entirely too many weapons for a teenage girl. Listen, when Shuffle Time gives you nothing but Sword cards, you take what you get.

Her big ability is the fact that Minako is a Persona user, which allows her to summon powerful entities that have various abilities to fight with. On top of that, Minako is a Wild Card, which lets her carry multiple Persona. At level 65, she can carry up to twelve Persona with her at any point. You'll find them over here.

She also has assorted basic abilities. With maxed out Academics, Charm, and Courage, she would argue that there's nothing she can't do. Her academics lets her understand difficult things more than a little easier than most, and results in her generally getting top marks in her class. The charm just makes it so people like her instead of dismissing her outright as a nobody. As for the courage, it simply lets her muster up the ability to do something that might otherwise unnerve or weird her out.

Minako is also a fairly decent cook, and can sew acceptably well. She's a pretty good tennis player, and wields a naginata like nobody's business, which is mildly alarming considering she's self taught.

Inventory:
- Two naginata (specifically Ame-no-Nuboko and the Beam Naginata)
- Minako's specific Evoker
- Her school uniform, which she'll be arriving in
- A red armband with SEES written on it
- A pair of headphones and an MP3 player, all in red
- Several kinds of restorative items (Medical Powder x5, Bead x3, Chewing Soul x5, Precious Egg x3, Soma x3, Revival Bead x5)
- Some assorted bits and bobs from her rank 10 Social Links
